General Grant Information:
St. Luke’s Foundation is committed to our mission of strengthening the health of our community through vital support of health related projects and education through three different funding opportunities:

Major Grants for Health Related Projects
Health Education Grants
The Lois Jean Roberts Nursing Scholarship Program

We seek proposals for projects and programs where a moderate amount of money can have a significant impact on a local health related issue and we have a preference for partnering with other funders and organizations on an identified community health need.

Our General Guidelines
  1. Grants are only awarded to local non-profit organizations for programs and projects benefitting the residents of Whatcom County.
  2. Programs or projects for which funds are requested must be in response to a documented community need, not solely an organizational need.
  3. Applicants should demonstrate coordination and partnering with other community organizations and funders.
  4. Activities or projects which have been completed or are under way are not eligible.
  5. No funds will be authorized for fees payable to fund raising counsel.

In general we do not award grants:
  • to support general and ongoing operating or administrative expenses
  • to retire debt
  • for completed projects
  • for projects that are limited to religious purposes
  • for scholarships and fellowships to individuals (except for Lois Roberts Nursing Scholarships)
  • for lobbying or influencing elections or legislation
  • to purchase computer systems
